Get up, stand up

HOW big and vibrant is the Linux community in the Philippines? This is what one of my readers, Kean, wanted to know. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to give an exact answer, and difficult to give even a ballpark figure if you don’t have a research team working for you. Because Linux is free and people are encouraged to give it away, establishing the number of users in a particular country or market is a significant challenge.

IT spending to rise 10% in Asia, 12% in RP

Companies in the Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan will spend $97 billion this year on information technology, 10 percent more than they did last year, a market research company predicts. IT spending in the Philippines, expected to hit $1.1 billion this year, will grow faster than theregional average at 12.12 percent.
